Atlas Studios Is Now Shooting at Willow Workplace — Menlo Park's Most Beautiful Backdrop for Headshots and Personal Branding

I get asked constantly why environment matters so much in a headshot or personal branding session. My answer is always the same: the best portraits don't look like they were taken in a photo studio — they look like they were taken in your world, just with better light and a photographer who knows how to find it. That's exactly why I'm excited to announce Atlas Studios has officially partnered with Willow Workplace, located at 80 Willow Road in Menlo Park, as a new home base for indoor environmental and outdoor personal branding sessions in the Peninsula, we can now serve our clients more than ever.

Why Willow Workplace

Willow Workplace isn't a generic coworking space with a couple of ficus plants and a whiteboard wall. It sits on five acres of genuinely striking property, and it gives me something most studios in the Bay Area simply can't offer: real variety, all in one location, without a client ever needing to drive between spots.

Walk in and you're greeted by a lobby that looks more like a boutique hotel than an office building — earthy adobe-style architecture, high-end furniture, and chandeliers overhead. That lobby alone gives us a polished, upscale indoor backdrop that instantly elevates a corporate or executive headshot.

Step outside and the property does the rest of the work. We've got a dedicated willow tree section with soft, dappled light and movement in the branches that makes for some of the most natural, editorial-feeling portraits I shoot all year. A few steps away, a redwood grove gives us tall, dramatic, moody backdrops — the kind of setting that makes a headshot feel like it belongs on a book jacket or a keynote stage. And for something completely different, there's a cactus and desert garden section that adds warmth, texture, and a totally different tone for clients who want their branding to feel a little more distinctive.

Three completely different scenes, five acres, zero driving between locations. And through it all, clients have access to free snacks, water, coffee, and fast internet — so between wardrobe changes or setups, nobody's standing around uncomfortable. It's a session that feels less like a shoot and more like an experience.

Putting It to Work: Colin Clancy & Lydia Terrill

The first session I want to showcase from this new partnership is a personal branding session for Colin Clancy, an agent with Keller Williams, and his wife Lydia Terrill — a genuine Bay Area power couple who needed imagery that could work individually and together. Colin found me through BNI, and the process from there was about as frictionless as it gets. He booked his session in a matter of minutes, picked the date and time that worked for his schedule, and that was it — no back-and-forth, no chasing down availability.

The session itself ran two hours and covered a full range: private individual headshots for Colin's real estate business, individual portraits for Lydia, and couple shots that moved between casual and corporate looks — using the willow section, the redwoods, and the lobby to shift the tone as we went. By the end of the two hours, they were already reviewing their shots and selecting their favorites on the spot, so there was zero guesswork afterward about which images would be delivered.

Their fully edited, professional images were back in their hands in under seven business days.
